Frequently asked questions

Does Vamed Health Group accept Medicaid?

Yes, we proudly accept Virginia Medicaid at all our locations, including Winchester, Front Royal, and Centreville. We also accept most private insurance plans to ensure treatment is accessible to everyone.

What is Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)?

MAT is an evidence-based approach that combines FDA-approved medications (like Suboxone or Buprenorphine) with counseling and therapy to treat substance use disorders. It helps reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms safely.

Do I need a referral to start treatment?

No, you do not need a referral. You can contact us directly to schedule an initial assessment with our licensed medical providers.

Is my treatment confidential?

Absolutely. We are fully HIPAA compliant. Your privacy is our priority, and all medical records and treatment details are kept strictly confidential.

How long does the intake process take?

The initial intake and assessment typically take about 60–90 minutes. During this time, we review your medical history, discuss treatment options, and verify insurance coverage.

What are your office hours?

Our hours vary by location. Winchester is open Wed-Fri, Front Royal is open Mon-Tues & Thurs, and Centreville is open Mon-Wed. Please visit our Locations page for specific times.

Do you offer counseling along with medication?

Yes. We believe in a whole-patient approach. Our MAT programs include access to individual and group counseling to support long-term recovery.

What Our Patients Are Saying

Testimonial Quote Icon

I really appreciate all of you Ladies in the office, nurse Laura and all the wonderful doctors that have been a part of my road to Recovery. I appreciate you guys working with my crazy schedule but more than that helping me become totally free of all substances. I spent many years, actually most of my adult life dependent on some type of substance, it feels absolutely amazing to be free from it all! I couldn’t ask for a “better doctor’s office to help me get through this stage of my life.

“For us it’s a family affair, unfortunately my significant other and I fell into drug addiction a number of years ago.  Having tried and failed to quit on our own we lost everything, our children our home our marriage. Last year, 2013, I finally had enough and my husband and I both called VAMed and started treatment.  It was the beginning of our life again.  The staff and VAMed has been and is fantastic, worked with us on our schedule and more.”

“I had called 5 places prior to calling VAMed and had almost given up when I called VAMed and then spoke with a staff member. It was such a relief, it wasn’t like any other Doctors office I had called, they talked to me and asked me questions about myself, and they encouraged me for the decision I made to call for help. They understood what I was going through because as I learned later, most of the staff at VAMed is also in recovery.”
